Israel Defense Forces have surrounded a home in Khan Younis belonging to Hamas' Gaza chief Yahya Sinwar but it's important to do "a lot less talking and a lot more action," as the situation unfolds, former Netanyahu foreign policy adviser Caroline Glick told Newsmax.
"One fear is that if we threaten [Sinwar] enough and he's surrounded by hostages he may just decide to kill them," Glick said Wednesday during an appearance on "Newsline."
"It becomes one of these things where I think silence is a better part of virtue on these issues. But yes, Sinwar can't continue to live. He just orchestrated the single largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust."
Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, Chief of the Israel Defense Forces, on Tuesday said the IDF has encircled southern Gaza and its main city, Khan Younis, where multiple top officials have said Sinwar is hiding.
Glick said Israel's plan to flood the Hamas tunnels beneath the Gaza Strip with seawater, driving out terrorists hiding there, was an "important thing from operational purposes for Israel … to get these terrorists above ground," she told Newsmax.
Israel in November completed construction of five large seawater pumps about one mile north of the Al-Shati refugee camp.
"Obviously when they're in the tunnels that they are burrowed into, that they dug, they have an operational advantage," she said. "They know where they are, and we have to send our forces in to look for them. They know where the booby-trapped parts of their tunnels are, and we don't.
"So the most important thing when you're fighting an enemy burrowed underground is to get them above ground so you can find them and beat them."
Glick also criticized groups like the International Red Cross after its president focused on the casualties in Gaza, telling Newsmax, "I think what we're seeing here is a combination of absolute prejudice against Jews where Jewish women don't matter and this is really a repeat of what we saw from the nations of the world during the Holocaust. So much of what was happening to the Jews of Europe was known and was known by the Red Cross, the Roosevelt administration, many governments throughout Europe and the world and they were fine with it.
"That's why they didn't do anything to stop it."
