Galen Institute Chief: Hillary Less Defensive on Benghazi

By    |   Wednesday, 18 June 2014 04:42 PM EDT

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took a decidedly less defensive tone when addressing the Benghazi attack during a CNN town hall meeting, a Newsmax panel concluded.

"What she's realizing is that stonewalling is not working,'' Grace-Marie Turner, president of the Galen Institute, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

But Turner said Wednesday that Clinton seemed to focus on whether the Sept. 11, 2012, attack in which Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed was precipitated by an anti-Islam video.

"The question that the American people want to know is what did the American government do, and did we do everything we possibly could to rescue those Americans who were killed in that attack?'' she said.

"That's what we want to know. I didn't hear her talking about those questions, but I do agree, this is progress for her to at least be asking any questions.''

Fellow panelist C. Edmund Wright, a columnist for Breitbart.com and American Thinker, said Clinton — who led the State Department when the attack occurred — is realizing the Benghazi issue "just keeps coming back.''

"I'm sure that she wanted to leave it where she left it with Ron Johnson, the senator from Wisconsin, with her now infamous, 'Senator, what difference does it make?' answer,'' Wright said.

"She's finding out it does make a difference and . . . no, we didn't do everything that we could do when the attack was going on to save lives. When I hear Hillary, I'm sorry, I hear like a fourth-grade teacher talking down to her class.''
