North Korea has already conceded a lot and the United States is in control ahead of an historic summit that will take place between the leaders of the two countries, North Korea expert Gordon Chang told Newsmax TV.
"Newsmax Now" host John Bachman asked Chang about the latest developments on the matter as President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un prepare to meet in the near future to discuss the reclusive nation's nuclear weapons program.
"Even before negotiations have started, they have . . . suspended their missile and nuke tests and they've closed their Punggye-ri site," Chang said. "That site in northern North Korea probably could not have withstood another nuclear detonation. It's unstable.
"But nonetheless, what the North Koreans are doing is, they're saying, 'even before we begin talking with you, we're gonna make some concessions.' And I think that is significant."

Trump and Kim are expected to meet face to face at a location that has yet to be determined. The U.S. wants North Korea to drop its nuclear weapons program and get rid of any nuclear weapons it already has. Kim has expressed a desire to do that, but Trump on Sunday said many details need to be worked out before the meeting occurs.
Chang said the effort would only be a success if North Korea denuclearizes.
"I think that we do actually have to force them to give up their weapons," he said. "We're now at a point where we can actually force the North Koreans to do what they don't want to do. And I think a lot of people should be looking at President Trump and saying, 'Go Trump.' This is really good stuff."
