"I believe we have to bring everyone into the party," he explained. "We have to acknowledge their wants and their needs, and I will represent all the people of the district, just not Democrats and that's what you see today."
Spain is running against incumbent Democratic Rep. Lois Frankel, who is serving her first term in the district that covers Ft. Lauderdale and Boca Raton. Before Frankel took office in 2013, the 22nd district was represented by former Rep. Allen West.
"We have an incumbent that really is interested only in a political philosophy," the former businessman said of Frankel.
"Her record shows that she has voted lock-step in every instance with the Democrat Party," he explained.
"I believe she is very vulnerable," he said.
Spain says that he plans to "run a clean campaign" that is a battle about the issues.
He said that Obamacare especially is "a very important issue."
"It's literally an issue that will bankrupt the nation if we don't address it correctly," he added.
