The Democratic-led Senate pulled its all-nighter on global warming this week to reap the same publicity that Sen. Ted Cruz got with his filibuster against the Affordable Care Act, says Susan Ferrechio, chief congressional correspondent for The Washington Examiner.
"You watched Ted Cruz and his all-nighter, that got a lot of attention on social media. It really made kind of a rock star out of Ted Cruz and his issue," Ferrechio told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"I can't help but think [the Democrats] stole from his playbook there. They thought, we'll do an all-nighter too, on global warming.
"There's obviously many other priorities: unemployment insurance, a package for Ukraine, all kinds of things, but they wanted to bring attention to this," she said Tuesday.

Cruz's filibuster in September saw him railing against the ACA, reading Dr. Seuss, praising White Castle hamburgers, doing a Darth Vader impression, and quoting from the TV show “Duck Dynasty" as he filled 21 hours and 19 minutes.
Many say the filibuster helped spur October's partial government shutdown.
