Americans will want a return to life under former President Jimmy Carter by the time President Joe Biden is finished with the country, Rep. Drew Ferguson told Newsmax Tuesday.
"That will be the lesser of two evils," the Georgia Republican said on Newsmax's "Wake Up America."
Trillions of dollars are being pumped into the economy, he continued, which is driving demand and resulting in climbing prices.
"Simultaneously you've got a real issue with workers staying at home because job creators and small businesses are competing with the federal government for workers," said Ferguson.
"You've got a real high increase in demand and you've got a depressed GDP in the sense that you can't get enough workers back to go to work. It's a horrible situation for America...throw in skyrocketing fuel costs, and it's not good for American families."
Biden promised when campaigning that he wouldn't raise taxes on middle-class Americans, Ferguson agreed, but added that the president "made a lot of promises that he's not keeping right now."
"One thing that we are seeing is the devastating effects of inflation on American families," he said. "Last month, we had the highest growth and inflation that we've ever seen in the country. The highest of all time. That's not good for American consumers."
Prices are going up on food and fuel, he added, and that is causing a "profound" effect on American families, especially people who live in rural areas.
"You have the driving distances; you've got to go to work," said Ferguson. "The fuel costs are adding up every single week, and they're taking food off of the table of our fellow Americans."
Meanwhile, with the 2022 elections approaching, Ferguson said he's a "fan" of letting Democrats talk so "America see how radical they are."
"They are making this country less safe," he said. "We had the Biden border crisis and it is not safe at the border, and we're feeling the effects in our communities with human trafficking and with drugs, and it's just simply wrong to have that many people coming across our border unvetted."
