Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on Thursday lamented the resignation of EPA head Scott Pruitt, calling it the result of "the politics of personal destruction," and warning it will not stop.
In remarks on Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Now," the Texas Republican said the left applies the same tactic to President Donald Trump.
"They're doing the same thing to the man at the top," he said. "This is outrageous. This is what you see when the left ;executes its strategy of the politics of personal destruction. [Pruitt] was public enemy number one . . . running an agency that is the home base of environmental whackos . . . that were leaking against him and working against him."

DeLay said Pruitt explained "everything about all these charges," and they were "frivolous" and "twisted."
"This goes along to with their new new strategy of going after secretaries and Cabinet members at their homes and restaurants," he said. "And for conservative commentators to buy into this [saying] 'well he's got these problems we ought to get rid of him' . . . is just wrong."
"What we ought to be doing is rallying around him and supporting him and his family to keep him from being treated like this because they're going to do it to others," he added.
Democrats, he asserted, are "sitting there and [waiting] behind the bushes" for Trump to appoint a replacement, "somebody as strong and as good as Scott Pruitt."
He said the acting head, Andy Wheeler — a former lobbyist for the coal industry as well as in the EPA under President George W. Bush and Bill Clinton — is "a pretty good guy."
"But the point is is can you get somebody like Scott Pruitt confirmed by the Senate," he asked, adding: "It is just a mess."
"They need to focus on what's going on here . . . because it's going to happen to other Cabinet members and other people that are doing a good job," he asserted. "This is the only thing that the left can do to win – their political activism."
