Liberals are somewhat off-base when they say the GOP is responsible for cuts in health spending that have hurt efforts to fight the Ebola virus, according to Washington Post columnist Glenn Kessler.
"[President George W.] Bush really boosted the budget of the NIH for instance," Kessler, author of The Post's "Fact Checker" blog, said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.
"President Bush was also very concerned about the AIDS crisis. He spent a lot of money over AIDS in Africa.
"The budget has been flat the last 10 years since Bush boosted it, but it was a big, big boost. It was almost 50 percent."
