Liberal blogger Brent Budowsky says the pricey neckties bearing Donald Trump's name are proof positive the billionaire developer and leading GOP presidential candidate is nothing but a "phony."

And to signal his disgust, Budowsky dramatically cut one of Trump's "signature collection" ties in half with a pair of scissors during a raucous appearance Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

Budowsky, a columnist for The Hill and former aide to Democratic Sen. Lloyd Bentsen, said a close look at the Trump necktie — which sells in different styles on Amazon from $39.99-$59.50 — reveals it is made in China, a fact that is printed in Spanish.

Which shows, according to Budowsky, that Trump speaks with a forked tongue — for blasting both China and Mexico in his campaign speeches, even though the Asian nation is good enough to make his neckties and he doesn't mind Spanish, the language of Mexico, on them.

"If you take a close look, I am wearing a Donald Trump tie right now — and it says Donald J. Trump," Budowsky told Steve Malzberg.

"But if you go down to the bottom, what you will find for this man who talks about Mexico and this man who talks about what the outrageous trade deal for China does to victimize the United States, what is says at the bottom … [is] 'Hecho a mano en China.'

"What that means is 'Made in China' in Spanish. I couldn't make that up if I tried. Made in China in Spanish. This is from the man that says the Chinese are ripping us off. What a phony. What a phony."

Budowsky then gleefully cut the tie in half to show his disgust for Trump.

"On behalf of American workers, I just cut the tie.... That's the chapter that's not going to be in Donald Trump's book. The man who talks straight, he claims, makes money from ties made in China with the label written in Spanish. What a phony," he said.

Trump has been under fire for his comment that a lot of the illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border are criminals. He's also been savaged for questioning Sen. John McCain's war-hero status.

But if anything, the controversies have only helped Trump's meteoric rise in the polls. He is well ahead of all 16 Republican presidential candidates.

In a poll of Iowa Republican voters released Friday by Gravis Marketing on behalf of One American News Network, Trump blows away his nearest competitor, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, 2-to-1.

Trump has a 15-point lead over Walker in the poll taken of 227 registered Republican voters in the Hawkeye State, who were asked who among the GOP candidates for president they would vote for if the caucus were held today.

On Thursday, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, during an appearance on the Malzberg show, predicted that the GOP's hopes of recapturing the White House next year are dead in the water if Trump wins the Republican nomination because he's "bad for business."

Graham, in the new poll, has only 1 percent of Republican voters supporting him.
