Political commentator Dick Morris told Newsmax on Monday that the Chinese balloon incident will cast a "huge shadow" over President Joe Biden's upcoming State of the Union address.
Morris said on "American Agenda" that "it's like there's this huge shadow that's going to move across the Biden State of the Union speech in the shape of a balloon, and it's going to obscure from view a lot of what Biden is going to be saying.
He added, "it was such a real-time manifestation of the incompetence and indecisiveness and dithering of this administration, and with something that American people experienced in real-time, as I think they we had 48 hours of the balloon overhead knowing about it, and he didn't do anything about it. Maybe 72. And I think that that's an impression that is not going to go away."
Morris said, "I think for the rest of it, Biden has tremendous hopes pinned on the State of the Union speech. He's hoping for a tremendous bounce and in fact, it's kind of a bounce into quicksand, so I don't think he's gonna bounce very far. But to understand how desperate Biden's political situation is, go back to the John McLaughlin poll of a week ago where only 25% of the Democratic primary vote … said they would vote to renominate the President."
He added, "Donald Trump's equivalent numbers 74% and that's more like it."
