President Barack Obama hopes to sway Jewish voters through the paroling of Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard after 30 years in prison, political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

"I don't think the Israeli government would fall for that," Morris, who served in the Clinton White House, told "Hard Line" host Ed Berliner. "He's hoping the Jewish voters in the United States fall for it.

"It's going over the head of the Israeli government to Jewish voters to show that he's sympathetic with Jews," he added.

Pollard, 60, is a former U.S. Navy intelligence officer who will be released in November, a federal parole board ruled Tuesday. He has remained jailed despite efforts by successive Israeli governments to secure his early release.

He will be required to remain in the United States for five years under the terms of his parole, his attorneys said.

Pollard's attorneys said the decision by the U.S. Parole Commission was unanimous and was "not connected to recent developments in the Middle East" — including the Tehran nuclear deal.

Morris is the co-author of the New York Times best-selling book, "Power Grab: Obama's Dangerous Plan for a One-Party Nation."

He also backed Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's likening the nuclear deal to the Holocaust.

"This deal condemns Israel to the serious possibility of a second Holocaust. The same number of people: six million, one bomb.

"What's the point of Auschwitz if you don't want it happening again," added Morris, who advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's re-election campaign. "Never again.

"When I first met with Netanyahu when he hired me to work in his campaign, the first thing he said to me was he said it's 1938 — and we all know what that means. Ten years from then, there'll be the Holocaust and the mass killings and the whole bit — and, here, it can be accomplished with one nuclear weapon."

Turning to the 2016 primary campaign, Morris told Berliner that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush needed to be careful when calling for civility in the race.

"He's dangerously misreading what the American republic and electorate wants," he said. "The average Republican is sitting there and saying: 'Listen, I worked my rear off to elect a Republican Congress in 2010. I fought like crazy against Obama in 2012 and lost — and then in 2014 I came back and I forced a Republican Senate. And what do I get for this?'

"A Republican has a Republican Senate that won't defund Obamacare, gives Obama extra trade authority, turns the Constitution on its head so that you need a two-thirds majority to disapprove a treaty, not to approve it," Morris concluded. "Where is the Republican leadership?

"Ted Cruz is hitting that right on the head when he says that the majority leader of the United States Senate is a coalition between [Kentucky Sen. Mitch] McConnell and [Democratic Nevada Sen.] Harry Reid."

And, yes, the first-term Texas senator, who also is in the 2016 sweepstakes, was right to slam McConnell on the floor last week.

"Darn right," he told Berliner. "It is about time that the Republican voters and legislators stood up to this cabal that goes on of the insiders in Washington.

"Somebody once told me that if the Democrats proposed to blow up the Capitol, the Republican would put an amendment to faze it in over five years."
