Planned Parenthood's decision to no longer accept payment for the sale of fetal body parts "doesn't come from humanity or conscience," Rep. Diane Black told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.

"It seems to me that it has been motivated by optics and crisis management on their PR side," the Tennessee Republican told "Newsmax Now" host John Bachman. "They know that this is an issue that they're being called upon and its optics.

"If they weren't doing anything wrong, why are they changing the policy?" Black added. "This doesn't change my mind about needing to investigate them for what we see on the film."

Planned Parenthood said Tuesday that it would keep programs at some of its clinics that make fetal tissue available for research but that it would not accept payments for the parts.

The organization's reversal came after the pro-life Center for Medical Progress released 10 undercover videos beginning in July showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of body parts — sometimes in chilling detail.

Four congressional committees are now investigating Planned Parenthood's practices, and House Republicans voted last week to create a special panel to probe the organization.

And Black, a registered nurse for more than 40 years, supports all of the inquiries, she told Bachman.

"I say that when the taxpayer dollar is being used at the tune of $500 million and given to an organization that does 327,000 abortions a year and then we see undercover films where there are activities that are potentially illegal, they need to be investigated — and whether you're pro-life or whether you're pro-choice, you ought to want that to be done."

But any congressional investigation must be credible, Black said.

"It needs to be serious. It needs to have the right staffing — and it needs to be done in a manner in which that whatever comes out of there, people can be confident that it is being done in a way that an investigation should be done."
