The Democrats want to get as many liberal judges appointed as possible now, because they believe Republicans may triumph in next year's elections, says Susan Ferrechio, chief congressional correspondent for the Washington Examiner.
Ferrechio told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV Thursday it was not a "huge shock" to see Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid enact the "nuclear option" that will allow the Democrats more power on judicial selections.

"Overall the timing's interesting and it suggests to some people that Democrats feel like they need to get as many judges through as they can and get as many executive branch executives through as they can," Ferrechio said.
"Because they may not be able to do it after 2014 because of the political landscape looking like Republicans have a good shot at the majority … The Democrats know that."
