Americans are not going to support a legislative bid to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), former Milwaukee County sheriff David Clarke told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.
"It is sheer buffoonery . . . The American people will push back on this," Clarke told hosts Miranda Khan, John Cardillo, and Gina Loudon on "America Talks Live."

Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., has introduced a bill to abolish the agency, charging the Trump administration is misusing it in its handling of immigrants crossing the border.
Pocan said his legislation would "dismantle ICE and create a commission to provide recommendations to Congress on how the U.S. government can implement a humane immigration enforcement system."
Clarke responded: "Look, the laws have to be carried out."
"It's pretty obvious to me that Mark Pocan, who is from my home state of Wisconsin, does not support borders, he does not support border enforcement," said Clarke, who last year joined the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action as an adviser.
"And this is the agency that does that so I think it will hurt . . . but that's a good thing. Sometimes, when people are going to go too far rather than stop them, give them some more rope, let them go as far as they can."
In a statement, Pocan said he had visited the southern border and "it was clear that ICE, and its actions of hunting down and tearing apart families, has wreaked havoc on far too many people.
"From conducting raids at garden centers and meatpacking plants, to breaking up families at churches and schools, ICE is tearing apart families and ripping at the moral fabric of our nation."
