Researcher Gainor: Media Turn Blind Eye to Liberal Scandals

By    |   Monday, 23 June 2014 06:44 PM EDT

The media turns "a blind eye when it comes to liberal scandals" — and the scandal at the Internal Revenue Service, in which the federal agency allegedly targeted conservative groups seeking non-profit status — is a perfect example, says Dan Gainor, of the Media Research Center.

"The media seems not to be focusing on it. One of the down sides of American media is that they tend to have a blind eye when it comes to liberal scandals," Gainor told Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" on Newsmax TV on Monday.

"They're not doing their jobs, they're not doing due diligence," he added. "If you look at the society of professional journalism's ethical code, they violate that on a regular basis, there's no attempt to do good journalism in this, except for a few people."

The IRS recently said it lost the emails of former IRS official Lois Lerner as well as the hard drive from her computer.

"I don't think there's a person in America who thinks that these emails just magically disappeared or accidentally disappeared," Gainor said.

The vice president of business and culture for the Media Research Center says that if "smoking gun emails" are found, he contends that it will also be revealed "that a lot of journalists knew that this was going on and they're not reporting it."
