Terror Expert: America Being Trained to Not Criticize Jihadists

By    |   Tuesday, 07 October 2014 07:17 PM EDT

Extremists are waging an organized campaign to stop Americans from trying from criticizing groups believed to be linked with jihadist activities, according to Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch.

One case in point, according to Spencer, was the White House sending an official to the Oklahoma mosque where beheading suspect Alton Nolen worshiped to reassure Muslims.

"It's really the fruit of a year's long effort by groups like the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations and its allies to stigmatize any opposition to jihad terror as hatred and bigotry and to portray Muslims as the innocent victims whenever there's a jihad plot," Spencer said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"The knee jerk reaction of the Obama administration when there's this beheading in Oklahoma is to think we have to make sure that the Muslims feel reassured that everything is okay, not that we have to reassure the non-Muslims that there aren't going to be anymore beheadings.

"Not that we have to call upon this mosque to stop teaching whatever it's teaching that may have incited [Nolen]. After all, the Koran does in two places — chapter eight verse 12 and chapter 47 verse four — call on believers to behead unbelievers."

Spencer believes Nolen — who allegedly beheaded a former female co-worker after being fired from his job at a food processing plant — may have triggered by something he learned at his mosque.

"Certainly, no innocent people should be attacked and there should be a concern for any legitimate backlash, but the hysteria over backlash attacks after jihad plots or attacks is wildly exaggerated," he said.

The government has labeled Nolen's alleged attack one of "workplace violence," not terrorism.

Jihad Watch, a blog affiliated with the David Horowitz Freedom Center, says its mission is to publicize "the role that jihad theology and ideology plays in the modern world, and to correct popular misconceptions about the role of jihad and religion in modern-day conflicts."
