The immense popularity of "The Godfather" movies and earlier Hollywood crime flicks demonstrate America's fascination with gangsters and in particular organized crime.

Newsmax viewers can tune in to the real story behind Al Capone and other underworld kingpins in the explosive documentary "Lords of the Mafia," which will be shown on Newsmax TV on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

This critically acclaimed PBS program, hosted by Robert Stack of "The Untouchables" fame, chronicles the historical rise of international organized crime and its leadership. Viewers travel to Italy, Russia, Latin America, Asia, and cities in the United States to see the stories of passion, upheaval, despair, and tragedy.

The documentary shows how a crime family operates, and its power infrastructure. It documents law enforcement's battles with organized crime, and how it continues to wage war against increasing odds.

The documentary adds to the diverse programing featured on Newsmax TV, the new lifestyle, news, and information channel.
