The Democratic Party has become the political arm of rioters in cities across the country, Rep. Dan Crenshaw told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.
“There is something underlying this antifa movement,” Crenshaw said on “Spicer & Co.” referring to commercial grade fireworks and improvised explosive devices thrown at law enforcement officers and lasers used to blind police. “And I find it very interesting that the Democrats can’t condemn it. They really can’t.
“Why? What’s becoming apparent is the Democratic Party is now the political wing of this movement. There is a political wing. There is a militant wing. But their messaging coincides rather well. It’s basically this: ‘We’ll hold America hostage until you give us power.’”
The 36-year-old Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL and first-term Republican congressman representing Texas’ 2nd Congressional District in and around Houston, pointed as an example the rhetoric of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat who on July 17 called federal law enforcement “stormtroopers.”
“And Pelosi is saying this week, she says ‘This is really only happening because (President Donald) Trump is in power,” Crenshaw added. “’If we were in power, then it would stop happening.’
“And there is nothing stated that would make the stop. Right? That indicates something. That indicates this is about power, and getting their political wing into absolute control and power. And it’s a scary thing.”
