Author and columnist Conrad Black told Newsmax TV that President Donald Trump's 2016 election victory was the result of the United States being "terribly misgoverned for a prolonged period."
"There had clearly developed in the minds of a huge number of Americans … that the country had been, from the presidential standpoint — and by government in general — terribly misgoverned for a prolonged period," Black told "Newsmax Now" host John Bachman on Thursday.
He is the author of the new book, "Donald J. Trump: A President Like No Other."

"Finally, somebody arrived and took over a party from the outside," Black explained. "Never had been done successfully in American history before — a major party was taken over by somebody who had never held any public office.
"They brought in a total outsider who attacked the system," he told Bachman.
"All of it: the Democrats, the Republicans, and all the factions of both parties, the national political media, the influence of Hollywood and Wall Street, the campaign financing system, the lobbyists.
"It's all rotten and it has to change."
