Thursday night's debate allowed many Americans who had not been able to hear details concerning the Hunter Biden email scandal to learn more about what has been in the news, but which has been blocked by social media and not reported by mainstream news sources, Sen. Marsha Blackburn told Newsmax TV Friday.

"You have your mainstream media outlets that have not reported," the Tennessee Republican said on Newsmax TV's "National Report." "You have social media that jumped in to just squash the stories. Some people were not aware of this."

Blackburn added that what was "interesting to me was the way he chose to set it up, saying that the people that worked for [President Donald] Trump said Joe Biden did his job well when they were going through the impeachment of Trump. That is just not correct. There were plenty of questions around the issue with Burisma and Ukraine and the Biden family and Hunter Biden."

In addition, she said, there is an account that shows the money Hunter Biden was receiving and where it was going, and then there is the laptop.

"You know the FBI is looking at Hunter Biden for money laundering or in connection to money laundering," the senator said. "You have the business partners of Hunter Biden who were saying Joe Biden and [Joe Biden's brother] Jim Biden were involved in these business deals ... so it does raise a lot of questions.

Joe Biden is using a report from the GOP-led Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and Senate Committee on Finance that he says clears him of wrongdoing when it comes to his son and Ukraine. However, Blackburn said, with the laptop and comments from Hunter Biden's former business partners, including Tony Bobulinski, many of the gaps in the story will be filled in.

She added that Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., plans to take up the matter and look into it, but she also wonders why the FBI had Hunter Biden's laptop last September but didn't report it.

"There is this cloud of confusion that is being created around the Biden family and these businesses that have popped up and run during Joe Biden's time as vice president," said Blackburn.
