The Supreme Court will eventually
legalize gay marriage and there is nothing supporters of traditional marriage will be able to do about it, says former Florida attorney general Bill McCollum.
"The Supreme Court is ducking this as much as possible," McCollum told J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan on "America's Forum" Tuesday on
Newsmax TV.

"Eventually ... they'll take up a case from a state which does not permit the marriage between two people of the same sex, and the cards are pretty well stacked in favor of their ultimately making the decision to allow that to be called a marriage," he explained.
"It is a fact ... that the movement is in that direction," he said. "The court is going to go along with many of these lower courts and ultimately make that decision."
And there is nothing those who support traditional marriage will "be able to do about it," he added.
While McCollum said he hopes he's wrong, he believes "it's just a matter of time before the Supreme Court rules at some point on a case that says that all states have to allow gay marriage."
"It's a very sensitive issue; it's a very explosive issue," McCollum said. "But the Supreme Court is headed in the direction that the state courts, the lower state courts, have been headed for some time now in making this a legal status."
He contends the GOP doesn't speak "with one voice on cultural issues as much" as people may think, even though "most Republicans still believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman."
When it comes to the upcoming midterm elections, the Florida Republican says he doesn't "think this should be the central issue."
Rather, Republicans should focus on Obamacare, the economy, and foreign policy.
