Rock 'n roll has never received proper credit for one momentous historical event — the tearing down of the Berlin Wall.

Now, Newsmax TV presents, "Rockin' the Wall," a fascinating look at how the top rockers of the 60s, 70s and 80s injected the spirit of revolution into the minds of German youth, leading them to literally rip down the notorious symbol of Soviet tyranny.

"Rockin' the Wall," airs Friday, July 10, at 10 p.m. ET only on Newsmax TV, America's fastest growing cable network.

In 1961, Germany's capital city of 3.5 million residents became a divided city of East Berlin and West Berlin, when the concrete wall was erected to stop a mass defection from the communist Eastern Bloc.

It quickly became a hated symbol of oppression, one that the rebellious youth of Germany was determined to end — a goal spurred by the anti-establishment anthems of groups like the Doors, Vanilla Fudge, Quiet Riot and Toto.

And with that revolutionary soundtrack, along with President Ronald Reagan's now famous cry — "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" — the citizens of East and West Germany attacked the wall in 1989, leading to its complete dismantling in 1990.

"Rockin' the Wall," tells the story of the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall through interviews with Cold War historians and a top Reagan official, as well as the Berliners who lived through it. Also featured are the rock hits that helped spur it all. It's narrated by Adam Baldwin, star of "Full Metal Jacket."

Story continues below video.

"Rockin' the Wall" adds to the diverse programming featured on Newsmax TV, America's fast-growing news and information channel carried in more than 40 million U.S. satellite and cable homes.
