Fed Chair Janet Yellen resumed her schedule and headed to a dinner after appearing to feel unwell during the end of a speech at the University of Massachusetts Amherst on Thursday.
The Fed, in a statement, said Yellen "felt dehydrated at the end of a long speech under bright lights."
"As a precaution, she was seen by (emergency) staff on-site," adding that the 69-year-old Yellen "felt fine afterward and has continued with her schedule Thursday evening."
Shauna Rice, director of administration at UMass emergency medical services, separately confirmed that Yellen, 69, was all right and did not go to the hospital.
Yellen struggled to finish a speech on inflation and monetary policy at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, coughing and stopping to recompose herself several times before walking off stage.
Yellen, who had been speaking for roughly an hour, appeared to lose her place in reading the speech and stopped several times. Around 6 p.m., she abruptly said, "I think I will end here."
She paused on stage for several seconds before exiting behind a curtain.
