The White House on Thursday shared a photo showing more than two dozen migrant people that were found packed inside an unrefrigerated produce truck near the Arizona border, the New York Post reports.
“Last night, 12 children, a pregnant woman, a convicted felon, and 19 other illegal aliens were found locked in a produce truck at a checkpoint in Arizona. The driver, charged with human smuggling, kept the refrigeration off, so they were trapped inside where it was over 97 degrees with no way out,” the White House wrote in a statement, along with several photos posted to its official Instagram and Facebook accounts.
The statement adds, “THANK YOU to our heroic Border Patrol agents, whose vigilance caught this smuggler and potentially saved lives!”
The photographs show an X-ray image of the truck showing people standing close together among stacks of produce, while some sit or lie on the floor. Other pictures show them sitting on the ground outside the truck after they were found by Border Patrol officials.
