John Boehner's successor in the House of Representatives is Warren Davidson, a Freedom Caucus-backed candidate who won the special election Tuesday in Ohio's 8th Congressional District, the
Washington Examiner reported.
The former Army Ranger won easily — despite abysmal turnout — in the highly conservative district after defeating 15 other Republicans in the March primary,
Cincinnati.com reported.
"The work is just now beginning," Cincinnati.com quoted Davidson telling supporters. "To me, this is like going back to active duty again."
According to the Examiner, Davidson, who will be sworn in next week, will have to run for re-election in November.
It is unclear if Davidson will join the Freedom Caucus, but it is reported that caucus chairman, Jim Jordan, also from Ohio, endorsed the former Army Ranger.
