The USS Nimitz is joining U.S. warships USS Carl Vinson and USS Ronald Reagan in the western Pacific amid warnings against North Korea's ballistic missile and nuclear program, sources told VOA News.
Sending three aircraft carriers in the same region is rare for the U.S. military, VOA reported.
President Donald Trump has been tasked with dealing with the "North Korea problem. " North Korea is building a nuclear arsenal which would have the ability to strike the U.S. with a nuclear warhead on a ballistic missile, something it might be capable of by 2020, according to VOA.
The U.S. is testing anti-missile systems and will simulate a North Korean strike this coming week, including an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for the first time Tuesday, per the report.
