Thursday, 21 January 2010 08:27 AM EST

Financial reform and the economy will dominate much of President Barack Obama's day.

In the morning, after his usual daily and economic briefings, the president and Vice President Joe Biden will meet with Paul Volcker, who is chairman of the Presidential Economic Recovery Advisory Board. Afterward, Obama will make remarks about financial reform.

In the afternoon, the president will address a delegation from the U.S. Conference of Mayors at a gathering in the White House. He'll talk about strengthening the economy and creating jobs in communities large and small.

Later, Obama meets in the Oval Office with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
