The United Methodist Church dismissed a complaint brought against Attorney General Jeff Sessions by more than 600 fellow parishioners.
The complaint charged child abuse against Sessions over the Trump administration's policy of separating migrant children from their families at the border.
Sessions' fellow churchgoers were not impressed when the attorney general cited the bible as a defense for separating migrant families.
It's personal conduct, not politics, and Sessions did nothing to violate the former, a church review found.
"The judicial process of the United Methodist Church cannot be used in the matter of United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions to address political actions," wrote Rev. Dr. Debora Bishop, superintendent of the district in Mobile, Alabama, location of Sessions' home church, Ashland Place United Methodist Church.
"A political action is not personal conduct when the political officer is carrying out official policy," Bishop wrote.
"In this matter, Attorney General Jeff Sessions was carrying out the official policy of the President and/or the United States Department of Justice. It was not an individual act. I believe this type of conduct is not covered by the chargeable offense provisions of The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church," Bishop wrote.
"Therefore, your complaint is dismissed."
