Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, D-D.C., is demanding the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hold a hearing on the forceful removal of a passenger from an overbooked United Airlines flight.

"I deplore the violent removal of a passenger from a United Airlines flight this weekend," Norton, a senior member of the committee, said. "Airline passengers must have protections against such abusive treatment.

"I am asking our committee for a hearing, which will allow us to question airport police, United Airlines personnel, and airport officials, among others, about whether appropriate procedures were in place in Chicago and are in place across the United States when passengers are asked to leave a flight," she continued.

Her remarks came after a video showed the passenger being pulled out of his seat and dragged down an aisle by airport security guards after he refused to give up his seat, The Hill reported.

The airline had randomly selected four people, including the man, to give up their seats after no one volunteered. The video shows the man with blood on is face being pulled off the Chicago to Louisville flight, The Washington Examiner said.

Norton is not the only lawmaker concerned about the incident, the Examiner noted.

Rep. Jan Schakowksy, D-Ill., blamed United for overbooking the flight and the injuries to the passenger, according to the website.

And Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Pa., made his feelings known on Twitter:
