Britain is mulling an invitation to President-elect Donald Trump for a state visit.
"An invitation for a state visit is one of the things that is under consideration following the election of a new US president," a spokeswoman for Prime Minister Theresa May told the BBC. "One of the issues under consideration is the 2017 state visits."
The BBC said that earlier this year, British MPs debated banning Trump from the UK following a series of incendiary remarks by the billionaire real-estate tycoon.
But the government said it wants to maintain the "special relationship" between the countries, the BBC said.
If Trump is invited, he would be a guest of Queen Elizabeth and likely stay at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle. President Barack Obama made a state visit to Britain in UK in April.
