Uber Testing On-Demand Helicopters

Uber is looking to add on-demand helicopters to its fleet of automobiles, Fortune reports.

Airbus is partnering with Uber to offer the service this week at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The European airplane-maker will be offering H125 and H130 helicopters to shuttle users around.

"It's a pilot project," Airbus chief executive Tom Enders told The Wall Street Journal.  "We'll see where it goes — but it’s pretty exciting."

UberChopper was tested three years ago in New York to ferry passengers between Manhattan and the Hamptons at a cost between hundreds and thousands of dollars. It also has been tested at the Cannes Film Festival and the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

Uber also is using rickshaws and boats in other countries.
