One of the terrorists who allegedly plotted the 2000 U.S.S. Cole attack that killed 17 American service members was killed in an airstrike in Yemen, President Donald Trump confirmed via Twitter.

"Our GREAT MILITARY has delivered justice for the heroes lost and wounded in the cowardly attack on the USS Cole," President Trump tweeted. "We have just killed the leader of that attack, Jamal al-Badawi. Our work against al Qaeda continues. We will never stop in our fight against Radical Islamic Terrorism!"

Al-Badawi, who allegedly planned the attack on the USS Cole, was also confirmed killed in a Jan. 1 airstrike in Marib, Yemen, according to the spokesman for U.S. Central Command, Capt. Bill Urban, Fox News reported Saturday.

The terrorist was indicted in 2003 and faced 50 counts of terrorism charges, but escaped prison, according to Urban.
