President Donald Trump is denying that he violated any campaign finance laws.

Trump made his comments in a Thursday tweet.

He wrote: “It was not a campaign contribution, and there were no violations of the campaign finance laws by me. Fake News!”

Politico said it was unclear what sparked the tweet.

The website noted Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen testified before Congress about setting up illegal hush-money payments. Cohen also said Trump repaid him for a payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. She has claimed to have had an affair with Trump.
