The Trump campaign late Tuesday ripped a report in The Washington Post that Donald Trump had used $258,000 of his foundation's money to settle legal cases over the years, calling it "peppered with inaccuracies and omissions" and slamming the article's writer.

"In typical Washington Post fashion, they’ve gotten their facts wrong," said spokesman Jason Miller. "It is the Clinton Foundation that is set up to make sure the Clintons personally enrich themselves by selling access and trading political favors.

"The Trump Foundation has no paid board, no management fees, no rent or overhead, and no family members on its payroll," Miller said.

The report, by David Fahrenthold, said that tax documents from the Donald J. Trump Foundation showed that the Republican nominee might have violated IRS laws.

It cited, for instance, a $100,000 settlement the foundation paid to a veterans charity stemming from a 2007 case involving his Mar-a-Lago Club and a flag pole that was too tall.

The town of Palm Beach, Fla., however, had ordered the club to pay the amount, not the foundation.

"There was not, and could not be, any intent or motive for the Trump Foundation to make improper payments," Miller said. "All contributions are reported to the IRS, and all Foundation donations are publicly disclosed.

"Mr. Trump is generous both with his money and with his time. He has provided millions of dollars to fund his foundation and a multitude of other charitable causes.

Miller added that the Post's "reporting is peppered with inaccuracies and omissions from a biased reporter."
