President Donald Trump took a shot at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and other Democrats on Friday, asking why anyone would leave the U.S. during the shutdown.
“Why would Nancy Pelosi leave the Country with other Democrats on a seven day excursion when 800,000 great people are not getting paid,” Trump tweeted Friday morning, the day after he publicly cancelled the speaker's plans to visit the Middle East. “Also, could somebody please explain to Nancy & her “big donors” in wine country that people working on farms (grapes) will have easy access in”
He then quoted Sen. James Inhofe,R-Okla., who said, “It’s the Democrats keeping everything closed.” Trump added, “So true!”
He followed that up later with a tweet saying that the GOP has “never” been more “unified,” before tweeting his campaign slogans “Make America Great Again” and “America First.”
“Never seen the Republican Party so unified,” Trump tweeted. “No ‘Cave’ on the issue of Border and National Security. A beautiful thing to see, especially when you hear the new rhetoric spewing from the mouths of the Democrats who talk Open Border, High Taxes and Crime. Stop Criminals & Drugs now!”
“MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” He continued.
"AMERICA FIRST!" Trump tweeted.
