UPDATE: NBC reports that Special Counsel Robert Meuller will not deliver his report to Attorney General William Barr next week as previously reported. NBC cites a "senior Department of Justice Official."
Previous story:
President Donald Trump’s legal team has reason to believe that Special Counsel Robert Mueller will submit his report “imminently,” despite not having contact with the team in weeks, according to Axios.
Mueller and his team have not had substantial dealings with Trump’s legal team in weeks, the grand jury has been inactive, and members of Mueller’s team are beginning to return to their old jobs. The White House has taken these as signs that the investigation is almost over, but Axios reports no sign of “panic or great urgency,” within the White House over the report.
CNN reported on Wednesday that Mueller could submit his report to Attorney General Bill Barr as early as next week, when Trump is due in Hanoi to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for a second summit.
"I don’t think they’d put it out while the President is in Vietnam," an unnamed source close to the president told Axios. “But, hey: They put out something major while he was in Helsinki [with Russian President Vladimir Putin last year], so who knows?"
