Officials are seeing a "growing threat environment across the globe" and should be concerned ahead of this week's July 4 celebrations, President Donald Trump's homeland security adviser, Tom Bossert, said Sunday, but there is no credible intelligence of any threats at this time.
"As people set out this weekend to enjoy their Independence Day with family members and friends, I think that they should focus on that and feel safe and secure and rested that we’re doing everything we can do to protect them,” Bossert told ABC News' "This Week."
However, there is a "jihadi globalist movement that we can't predict, and we're seeing it manifest itself in ways that are extremely daunting to law enforcement authorities," said Bossert.
Bossert said "three actors with knives are very difficult to thwart," referring to terror attacks conducted recently in Western Europe and in the United Kingdom.
Even though there are no credible threats at this time, "we would be remiss in not understanding the incredible threat" posed by ISIS as the United States and its partners attempt to defeat the terrorists both in the world and in the "virtual space they own, their Internet space," said Bossert.
"They're proselytizing and we have taken, President Trump has taken a number of steps to protect Americans," he added.
