Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer, dismissed claims made by comedian Tom Arnold that the two were going to work together over the weekend in an effort to take down the president, Mediaite reported Friday.

On Wednesday night, Arnold tweeted a photo of himself with Cohen, and then told NBC News on Friday they were "taking Trump down together" and that Cohen "has all the tapes."

"I'm going to spend the weekend with Michael Cohen," Arnold told CNN Friday night. "I'm spending the weekend hanging out with Michael Cohen. And there's a lot going on."

Vice recruited Arnold last month to be the lead investigator for a new show titled "The Hunt for the Trump Tapes" to discover whether or not rumored compromising tapes existed of the president.

But on Friday night, Cohen tweeted he wasn't working with Arnold and that the selfie of the two of them the comedian posted on Twitter was just a "chance" encounter.

"Appreciate @TomArnold kind words about me as a great father, husband and friend. This was a chance, public encounter in the hotel lobby where he asked for a selfie. Not spending the weekend together, did not discuss being on his show nor did we discuss @POTUS. #done #ridiculous," Cohen tweeted Friday night.

Arnold also had appeared to walk back one of his earlier claims Friday morning, tweeting, "Michael Cohen didn't say Me & him were teaming up to take down Donald Trump! Michael has enough Trump on his plate. I'm the crazy person who said Me & Michael Cohen were teaming up to take down Trump of course. I meant it. Michael doesn't get paid by Vice #thehuntforthetrumptapes."
