Donald Trump and Ben Carson are tied for the lead in Texas, according to a KTVT-CBS 11/Dixie Strategies Poll of almost 2,000 likely GOP primary voters.
  • Ben Carson: 22.9 percent
  • Donald Trump: 22.2 percent
  • Ted Cruz: 14.3 percent
  • Jeb Bush: 12.7 percent
  • Marco Rubio: 6.6 percent
  • Carly Fiorina: 4.6 percent

Numbers for the rest of the 15-candidate GOP field were not released by the TV station.

Cruz, a sitting U.S. senator from Texas, is polling third, essentially tied with former Florida governor Bush, the brother of George W. Bush, former president and former Texas governor.

The poll was taken by telephone October 23-24.
