California police continued searching Wednesday for a millionaire tech executive who is feared dead after being kidnapped from his home and following the discovery of a dead body inside the stolen SUV that belonged to his girlfriend, according to news reports.

Tushar Atre, 50, was abducted from his Santa Cruz home at 3 a.m. Tuesday by "multiple assailants" who broke into his home before forcing him into the white BMW SUV, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reports.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, Atre has lived and worked in Silicon Valley since the 1990s and is CEO of Atrenet Inc., a corporate website development company based in Santa Cruz.

A 911 telephone call reporting a home invasion was received from the property before Atre vanished, the Daily Mail reports.

However, the white SUV owned by his girlfriend, whom officials have not identified, was found seven hours later at 10 a.m. in the Santa Cruz Mountains about 14 miles from Atre's home.

The body found inside was not identified by authorities.

Sheriffs have not disclosed a motive in the case, but friends and neighbors say Atre had "enemies" in his business activities.

"Atre made enemies over his business deals," a friend told KPIX-TV5 in San Francisco. "And not specifically with his company."

A neighbor told sheriffs that they "saw the BMW late Monday night on Pleasure Point while walking his dog" and "he heard some sort of commotion in the morning."

Authorities said they were working "tirelessly" on the case, the Daily Mail reports.
