There is a lot of confusion about how and when to pay taxes, both in the United States and among expatriates, according to a new study.
In the United States alone, an average of 22,000 people every month ask when tax day is, with Oklahoma as the state searching for that information the most, according to information compiled by Greenback Expat Tax Services.
Expats in Amsterdam, meanwhile, have searched for the term "expat tax" most over the past five years, the study shows.
In the United States, the top 10 searches, and the numbers of people seeking the information monthly, is as follows:

- What is FICA tax? 21,000.
- How to file a tax extension? 17,000.
- How long does it take to get a tax refund? 15,000.
- Where is my tax refund? 14,000.
- How long does it take for tax refund to show in bank account after approved? 14,000.

- What is a tax ID number? 12,000.
- When is tax season? 11,000.
- What is OASDI tax? 11,000.
