CNN contributor Tara Setmayer, a Republican strategist who opposes GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump,
Monday quoted scripture and slammed the front-runner's marital record. She also rebutted pro-Trump commentator Scottie Nell Hughes' contention that the front-runner is an example of "integrity and character."
"Really?" she asked Hughes on the integrity argument, taking place on CNN anchor Carol Costello's morning cable show,
reports Mediaite. "So the man has been married three times — who publicly shamed his wife when he was cheating on her with his mistress — that's a man of integrity for you?”
Trump's record on women also came into play, after Hughes asserted that he is a positive leader for young females and that she would take her 8-year-old niece to see Trump Tower in New York because she looks "at actions." She then told that Trump has many women in roles in his business empire and proclaimed that that fact "speaks a lot louder than any words."
That's when Setmayer started quoting scripture at her.
"In the Bible it says, 'the power of life and death is in your words.' OK? Words matter," she said, making reference to Proverbs 18:21.
She continued with another verse, from Luke 6:45, telling Hughes that "out of the abundance of your heart, so shall the mouth speak."
"Words absolutely do matter. And to dismiss what someone has to say is completely disingenuous."
