U.S. officials have obtained blood and urine samples from victims of the alleged chemical attack in Syria last weekend and the samples tested positive for chemicals, mainly for chlorine and some for a nerve agent, MSNBC reported Thursday.
The officials said they were "confident" in the intelligence, though not 100 percent sure, MSNBC reported.
The Assad regime is known to have stocks of the nerve agent sarin, and has previously used a mixture of chlorine and sarin in attacks, U.S. officials told MSNBC.
Officials also said that the U.S. has compiled intelligence - including images - that indicate the Syrian government was behind the weekend attack, MSNBC reports.
Russia and Syria have denied any involvement in the alleged chemical attack that happened Saturday in Douma, the last rebel stronghold in eastern Ghouta, that killed more than 70 civilians, including at least 20 children.
