Fugitive intelligence leaker Edward Snowden has been turned into a comic book character.
Bluewater Productions was due to release a new comic book biography on Wednesday called "Beyond: Edward Snowden" in print and digital versions.
On its website, Bluewater says that the former National Security Agency contractor who has leaked thousands of classified documents was a perfect subject for a profile.
"Edward Snowden has been called a whistleblower, a hero, a traitor, a criminal, but who is he really?" said the publishing company. The comic book "takes a look at the man behind the headlines."
Noting that Snowden was a playful geek before he started giving away state secrets, the comic's author, Valerie D'Orazio, told
USA Today, "I found him to be a very fascinating person.
"I think what he did in terms of letting the public know about data collection was really important. I think the public should know where their personal data goes."
Bluewater said it had focused on other political subjects in the past, including President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, potential presidential contender Hillary Clinton, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and the tea party.
Snowden, who revealed the NSA’s mass phone and Internet surveillance of American citizens, was granted asylum by Russia in August of last year.
