A former Playboy centerfold model on Friday sued a top Republican fundraiser, her former lawyer and the lawyer for adult-film star Stormy Daniels over the breakdown of a $1.6 million hush-money agreement, according to news reports.
Shera Bechard filed the lawsuit under seal in Los Angeles County Superior Court against Elliott Broidy, a key Republican fundraiser in Los Angeles, contending that their agreement from last year has been made public, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The newspaper reported Monday that Broidy said he would stop paying Bechard because her former attorney, Keith Davidson, apparently disclosed the affair.
Broidy has accused Davidson of breaching the nondisclosure agreement by providing information to Michael Avenatti, who is representing Daniels in her claims to have had an extramarital affair with President Donald Trump 12 years ago.
Trump has denied the allegations, and Daniels is suing the president and his former attorney, Michael Cohen, over a $130,000 hush-money deal negotiated with Davidson in October 2016 over their alleged affair.
Cohen, who represented Broidy in the hush-money deal, is not a party to Bechard's lawsuit.
According to the Journal, Avenatti posted a tweet in April alluding to an agreement between a prominent GOP donor and "an L.A. woman" without naming Broidy or Bechard.
The Journal first reported details of the agreement the next day.
"Elliott has followed the terms of the agreement and it's disappointing others did not," Eric Rose, a Broidy spokesman, told the newspaper.
Dave Wedge, a spokesman for Davidson, declined to comment. He has said that his client denies breaching the agreement.
In her lawsuit, Bechard cited the Journal's reporting about Broidy's decision to stop payment as grounds for her action.
Broidy has apologized to his wife and family for the affair with Bechard, who discovered she was pregnant and chose to have an abortion.
"I acknowledge I had a consensual relationship with a Playboy Playmate," Broidy told The Associated Press in a statement in April. "At the end of our relationship, this woman shared with me that she was pregnant.
"She alone decided that she did not want to continue with the pregnancy and I offered to help her financially during this difficult period."
