Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr said Tuesday the panel's options to secure testimony from former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn in its Russia probe included contempt of Congress and "I've said that everything is on table."

"We've taken actions that we feel are appropriate right now," the North Carolina Republican told reporters after a committee hearing with former CIA Director John Brennan. "If, in fact, there's not a response, we'll seek additional counsel and advice on how to proceed forward.

"At the end of that option is a contempt charge – and I've said that everything is on table," Burr added. "That's not our preference today.

"We would like to hear from Gen. Flynn.

"We'd like to see his documents. We'd like him to tell his story because he publicly said, 'I've got a story to tell.'

"We're allowing him that opportunity to do it."

Flynn, 58, a retired Army lieutenant general and former campaign adviser to President Donald Trump, plans to invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination before the intelligence committee in its probe.

Trump fired Flynn in February over concerns about whether he was forthcoming about his Russian contacts to Vice President Mike Pence.

Burr reiterated the immunity offer was not within the purview of the Intelligence Committee in "a potential criminal investigation.

"As valuable as Gen. Flynn might be to our intelligence investigation, we don't believe that it's our place today to offer him immunity from this committee."
