Post-Parkland, School Systems Nationwide Ramp Up Student Surveillance

School systems around the country are hiring outside firms to conduct around-the-clock online monitoring of students’ social media posts in the hope it will help them prevent the next mass shooting at a school.

There appears to be a spike in school-related arrests nationwide in the wake of the shooting spree that killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneham Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
