Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud praised President Donald Trump's action to decertify the Iran nuclear deal, according to a White House statement from a call between the leaders this weekend.
"King Salman praised President Trump for his visionary new Iran strategy and pledged to support American leadership," the statement, tweeted by ABC News on Sunday, read. "President Trump thanked King Salman for Saudi Arabia's support and emphasized the importance of the Gulf Cooperation Council in countering Iran's destabilizing activities in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and elsewhere in the region."
International response to President Trump's recommendation to the United Nations Security Counsel resolution has been mixed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed it as a "very brave decision," while British Prime Minister Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel vowed to stay committed to the deal after a call Sunday, according to The Washington Examiner.
Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, sides with Iran Foreign Minister Zarif in the chorus believing President Trump's move makes it so the international community "cannot trust anymore the word of the United States" – with Clinton's words being this "basically says America's word is not good."
