The Saudi Arabian government is shelling out money and free houses to the four children of Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi dissident journalist who was murdered by a team of Saudi assassins in Turkey last year, according to a new report.
The Washington Post reported Monday that Khashoggi's two sons and two daughters are being taken care of, a plan that was approved by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman following their father's October death in Istanbul.
The children are being given monthly payments of at least $10,000. The homes are located in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia, and are worth up to $4 million. Only one of the children lives in Saudi Arabia; the others live in the United States, the Post reported, and will likely sell the homes they were given.
The homes and payments demonstrate an effort by the Saudi government to keep Khashoggi's family from speaking out against it in the wake of the brutal killing that took place at a Saudi consulate.
The United Nations investigated the killing and concluded that there is enough evidence to say Saudi officials "planned and perpetrated" the attack.
