Ryan Holds Meeting with Black Members of Congress

Rep. Paul Ryan says he had a productive meeting with members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Wednesday's private meeting comes weeks after comments he made about poverty and inner cities stirred allegations of racism.

In March, Ryan told a talk radio show: "We have got this tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working."

Ryan said a day later that he was inarticulate about the point he was trying to make and pledged to meet with the black caucus.

Ryan and the black caucus said their private meeting was polite but yielded no policy breakthroughs.

Earlier Wednesday, Ryan led a hearing focused on poverty issues in his capacity as House Budget Committee chairman.
